Catherine Ford is a British actress born in Bloomsbury. When her father left her family members, she was grew up by her mother, godparents, and grandmother. When she was a child, Ford battled anxious disorders, obsessive/compulsive and was afflicted through word-related associations. Ford began to be attracted to acting at the age of teenager and joined the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted to the Sylvia Young Theatre School. After just a week she decided it wasn't for her. Ford made an application at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was eventually offered the position she wanted on her third attempt. Shaun Dingwall would play Pete Tyler who is a character that was recurring on Doctor Who. Ford was graduated in 1993, but at the time, she had already made her TV debut on an episode from 1991 in the show Surgical Spirit; she adopted the professional name "Catherine Tate". Tate was on television in the Nineties in shows like The Bill and Men Behaving Badly. Tate would also frequently work as a theatre actor and was eventually a part of The Royal Shakespeare Company during its season 2000-2001. Tate began to gain attention for her stand up comedy in 1996.
